Between Two Ferns Justin Bieber: Would you rather watch political punks or music industry punks? (Video)

If you are anything like me you find the vile rhetoric, incessant vitriol and outright telling of untruths flowing from the mouths of Democrats getting to be too much to bear!

Personally I would rather laugh at a music industry punk than listen to a Congressional one if only for a few minutes!

So as this new week gets underway you could watch C-SPAN and listen to the over-the-top rhetoric from the Congressional 'punks' on the Left as the defunding of Obamacare and government shutdown debate heats up or instead...

You could use this video of 'Between Two Ferns' with Zach Galifianakis interviewing pop punk Justin Bieber as a useful diversion from phrases like Republican terrorists, Tea Partyers holding the country hostage, bomb throwers on the Right, etc.

Malpractice Analogies: If Barack Obama was a...

Presidential malpractice? Obama opens a line of communication to rogue nation Iran in the hope that diplomacy and negotiation will stop that country's nuclear weapons program!

As is the case with basically everything that this President does do or that chooses not to do, this decision to dialogue with terrorists will be a miserable failure for the US, a win for Iran and a loss for the world community.

Ironically it has been well documented that this so-called diplomatic thawing between our two countries sadly and appropriately (not in a good way) marks the first time that this has occurred since Jimmy Carter occupied the Oval Office!

This effort represents yet another attempt by Obama to 'solve' the Middle East puzzle, a critical national security problem for ourselves and for our allies, in a way that will not only fail but worse that will embolden and allow Iran to continue along on it nuclear weapons acquisition program that may already be too late to stop.

The crux of the matter and more importantly what the Left continues to refuse to understand is that the ONLY thing these rogue states and terrorist organizations respond to is the CREDIBLE threat of military action or force. And, as Syria's redline crossing showed only too well to these people, the Obama administration has absolutely none of that credibility thing.

So exactly what is it with our crown prince of arrogance? What is it that makes him so incredibly incompetent in the daily double that consists of the one-two finish of domestic and international policy issues?

Could he actually be this incompetent coupled with the fact that a junior senator with no real world experience beyond community organizing was handed the job as the leader of the free world and is now in way over his head?

Or is this 'incompetence', as speculated here umpteen times in the past ('Barack Obama: The Manchurian President'), all part of his master plan to bring the United States to its knees?

Whatever it is if instead of POTUS Barack Obama worked in one of the following professions, would he be open to civil action for negligence and/or incompetence?

Hypothetical malpractice cases against the President for various failures in leadership! What if Barack Obama...
  • If Barack Obama was a doctor he could be sued for malpractice based on the physical and emotional damage Obamacare is about to inflict on his 'patients' consisting of the citizens of the United States.
  • If Barack Obama was an architect he could be sued for the failed blueprint he has drawn to build his foreign policy and national security programs that have actually made the US less safe. His newest blueprint for stopping Iran's nuclear weapons program through democracy is a perfect case in point!
  • If Barack Obama was a dentist he could be sued for negligence based on his unwillingness to drill for the natural resources that would help get the country off of its dependence on countries who hate us.
  • If Barack Obama was a financial advisor he could be sued for violating his fiduciary responsibility by neglecting to make any attempt to manage the country's finances in a responsible manner.
  • If Barack Obama was the chairman of the board of a publicly traded company he could be sued for  decision-making that put his own ego and agenda ahead of the best interests of the firms shareholders.
  • If Barack Obama was a con-man he could be sued by Jimmy Carter for doing an imitation of the former President that is actually a disservice to the man who, up until five years ago, could have been considered the nations worst!
You get the general idea but Barack Obama is not any of these things. Instead he is President of the United States and we as a nation have no recourse beyond taking back the Congress in 2014 and the White House in 2016!

Politically Incorrect Look at Aspirin under Obamacare!

Effective Jan 1, 2014, aspirin will be heavily taxed under Obamacare.

The only explanation given was that they are white and they work.

No other reason was provided.

Seriously though, aspirin falls under a taxing provision in Obamacare called the 'Medicine Cabinet Tax' that is anything but funny and that will do what this legislation does best...hurt the middle class and pretty much everyone else!

Everyone that is except for the employees we hired to serve US in Washington, DC who have of course have exempted themselves from the horror show known as Obamacare!

The Political Commentator Articles for the Week of September 21 - September 27, 2013

This weeks articles at TPC ran the gamut from the predictable look at Obamacare, a PSA on testicular cancer, strippers going to court to receive minimum wage from Rick's Cabaret, the Manchurian President, the Fed's Ben Bernanke and much more!

Watcher's Council 'Is there a Doctor in the House' Results Edition!

The Watcher's Council

This weeks edition of the Watcher's Council is dedicated to the potential horror show of medicine that may soon be coming to a doctors office near you in the form of Obamacare.

That is of course if you are able to find a doctor anywhere in the vicinity of where you live or work.

And then, if you are lucky enough to find such a doctor, will the wait for an available appointment to have an infection checked out be three months down the road by which time you may have to have that body part removed?

Finally will this doctor who happens to be available to you, one who has chosen to continue to be a doctor, be a doctor who is qualified and talented enough to determine exactly which body part it is that requires removing?

God help us all!

On to the results!

The results for the week of September 23, 2013 Watcher's Council have just been released with first place awarded to The Right Planet for 'an excellent look at what happens when people, for whatever reason, are victims of what psychiatrists call ‘category error’, the inability to solve problems because of the difficulty in properly defining or naming them...'

The Political Commentator placed seventh with an article that took a look at the the problems facing whoever is 'lucky' to be the choice to replace Ben Bernanke.

The link to both articles, along with links to the other must-read articles from some of the worlds top conservative minds, can be found below.

The Watcher's Council: An Explanation!

The Watcher's Council nominations for the week of September 23, 2013 were presented, the votes were cast and counted, and the winner will now been announced!

For those who may be enjoying their first Watcher's Council experience, it is a group that consists of some of the top conservative bloggers from around the world.

A group that The Political Commentator is extremely proud to have been asked to be part of!

Each week members select and submit an article that they have written in addition to one article from a non-council blog they find to be particularly topical and important.

While you may not always agree with what you read, that fact alone may make the experience much more valuable!

Once all of the nominated articles have been received at an undisclosed location by the Council leader, a location that is well hidden somewhere on the Left Coast of the United States, the Watchers Council members review and vote for their favorite entries.

These votes are protected and held by outside auditing firm Arthur Andersen until such time as they are counted and a winner has been chosen for the Grand Prize.

This Grand Prize which consists of the appreciation of ones peers.

In the end, however, we are all winners for having had the opportunity to read the analysis of the critical issues of the day.

In a nutshell, the Watchers Council is a one-stop shop for the ultimate in conservative opinion, analysis and commentary!

So without further ado the winner(s) of the Watcher's Council for the week of September 23, 2013 is (are)...?

Has the Republican Party lost its way? You bet your ass it has!

Are Republicans cannibalizing themselves?
Is TPC a traitor to the conservative cause for suggesting that some form of reconciliation with the mainstream GOP is the only way to prevent Democrat rule for years to come?

I ask this question in light of this thought: Is the current configuration of the Republican Party merely a compilation and conglomeration of well meaning yet holier-than-thou politicians totally intransigent in their positions that will ultimately result in incredible pain for everyone in the country who is not part of the Washington establishment?

The politicians making potentially life and death decisions for the American people include the old guard, the new guard, conservatives, RINOs, Tea Partier's, rank and file Republicans and any other name or acronym you can think of.

All categories that are running headlong into a perfectly laid political trap set by the Democrat Party! A trap that has at its core nothing other than pure political ambition at the expense of all Americans, but a trap none-the-less.

Put more succinctly, when the varying factions on the Right side of the negotiation become unwavering in their positions with all firmly believing that they alone hold both the political and moral high-ground, it's the American people who ultimately will lose. And lose badly for generations to come!

Watching Washington as the Obamacare clock ticks to the zero-hour I am both sad and quite concerned as this medical monstrosity will soon become a fait-accompli spelling both a health care and economic disaster for the people of the country.

And, at the same time, I watch the public infighting of Republicans in Congress that is effectively creating a fog of gloom as I sadly realize that the GOP is incapable of playing on the same political ball field as the Democrats.

While the Democrats may be factually and most likely morally wrong, they possess the marketing and public relations acumen to peddle those wrong positions off in such a way that their loyal voting block is willing to follow along blindly like lambs being led to the slaughter! And aiding them in no small way in this endeavor is of course their political lap dog that exists in the form of the mainstream media.

While this political propaganda machine is in full swing, the Democrats are also incredibly skilled at portraying the other side of the argument, in this case Republicans, as scum who may be slightly more acceptable than the crap that gets stuck to the bottom of your shoe.

So what are the various factions on the Right to do in order to coalesce around the primary objectives? Good question but it better be something that minimizes the destructive impact of Obamacare, holds the majority in the House and gets a majority in the Senate in 2014 while at the same time wins back the White House in 2016.

If these don't occur Obamacare could be the least of our country's problems!

Does this position calling for some degree of political pragmatism make TPC a traitor to the conservative ideals of government? I don't think so although many others will believe that is exactly the case.

While this may be naive if we do not somehow find a way to work together and the Democrats assume control of Congress and the White House and destroy the country to the point that conservatives sweep in 2018 and 2020, will there be anything left of the United States to save?

Flashback about five weeks ago:

'Conservatives, Tea Party and GOP: Can we find some way to get along just a little bit?*'

'*And should we even bother trying? (2nd draft)

Hypothesis: If the vote on the Right is fractured in 2014 and 2016 does the entire country lose that election?

In other words is there any way for the Tea Party, Conservatives and the mainstream Republican Party to figure out a way to somehow work, without compromising individual ideals, principles and philosophies, towards a common goal which is defeat of the Democrats!

While many who read this will consider mainstream GOP politicians to in essence be no different and no better than Democrats, having personally watched Obama, Pelosi and Reid govern in ways that are purely detrimental to the economic and national security future of the nation there is in my humble opinion no basis for comparison between the two...' (Source)

And now, a day after the Cruz Senate-floor marathon over the defunding of Obamacare, things inside the Republican Party may have gotten even worse:

'Sen. Ted Cruz’s talk marathon on the Senate floor has done little to ease the fraught relationship between the junior senator from Texas and the rest of his Republican conference. In fact, comments from a number of GOP senators Wednesday suggested the rift between the tea-party wing and the rest of the caucus is growing.

“The senator from Texas made a big point that members of Congress, in his opinion, were not listening to the American people,” said Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla. “I have a lot experience at listening as a physician. That’s what I got paid to do. I think what Senator Cruz and some of his allies in the Senate … their tactics are tremendously erroneous, in my opinion.”

Others said Cruz’s tactic—urging Republicans to block Senate debate on a House budget bill to defund Obamacare that many of them support—had muddled the issues for Congress and the public...' (Source)

All the while the Democrats, led by Obama, his bully pulpit, Reid and Pelosi sit by and watch as the Republicans cannibalize themselves.

Watcher's Council Nominations 'Syria Moved onto the Back-Burner' Edition

Obamacare and the non-handshake handshake with Iran's new President have moved the WMD crisis in Syria to the back-burner of Americans minds!

The theory inside the White House concerning anything to do with Obama administration crisis, scandal and/or cover-up of said criss or scandal is very much like the saying concerning the weather in Colorado.

In Colorado it's said that if you don't like the weather wait five minutes and it will change.

For the Obama administration it's simply wait a day or two until some new 'situation' undoubtedly shows itself that will move the prior one into limbo.

Their hope is that it will then be forgotten by all besides those Americans who will persist until the truth is somehow pulled out of the Kung Fu Grip of an administration who doesn't want to let go of the truth.

Strippers on Strike? (Video)

What is this world coming to?

If McDonald's workers want to go on strike to demand that the minimum wage in their franchise be raised to $15 an hour that is certainly their right.

Not a particularly smart move for any number of reasons up to and including the fact that many workers will likely have to lose their jobs so that others can have their wages potentially doubled, but it is absolutely within their rights to do it.

On-the-other-hand, there seems to be some perverse logic at work when gentlemen's club workers, aka strippers, bring a court case to demand the same from the clubs in which they work.

It was always my understanding that strippers, like bellhops and waiters , earned their money through hard work that ultimately results in the tips derived from the particular service that they provided.

Bellhops carry your bag, waiters bring you food and strippers entertain through a variety of activities.

And, if memory serves, strippers are compensated handsomely for such performances as you can observe in the video with money floating down from the rafters!

That said, the unfortunate fact of the matter is that we are in the year 2013 and we are in America which remains an overly litigious society. This means that there are no limitations on bringing lawsuits whether they have merit or not.

To date there is no serious discussion of tort reform and no talk of the loser in an action having to pay the winners attorney fees so, for the foreseeable future, anything goes.

The plaintiffs hire lawyers to bring the action which forces the defendant to hire a lawyer to defend against the action and while one side or the other will likely win, the one group who always wins are the lawyers who are incentivized by making more money the longer they can cause the action to drag on.

The courtroom combatants also have to deal with judges who may not solely be tied to dispensing justice but who may in fact be trying to adapt the law so that a decision fits with their particular ideology.

The target for this lawsuit brought by the strippers was the midtown Manhattan purveyor of adult entertainment that goes by the name Rick's Cabaret.

The ultimate result of this case has not fully been determined but in the opinion of the judge in the US District Court in the Southern District of New York these ladies are indeed employees and not independent contractors.

Will the next step be to start charging tax on a lap dance?

Barack Obama: The Manchurian President Redux!

In March 2013 TPC had posed the question that asked whether there was any remote possibility that Barack Obama was indeed the Manchurian President?

In other words could it be an accident that a President who coincidently has the background of Barack Obama and who has been as destructive as he has to the United States be due simply and solely to incompetence?

Two videos were provided to support the hypothesis and it was left to the reader to decide whether this incredible conspiracy theory could in any way have some semblance of truth to it (Is Barack Obama the Manchurian President? (2 Must-Watch Videos)).

In retrospect my question and conspiracy theory pales next to the premise of an article written by Dave Hodges of The Common Sense Show titled 'The CIA Manchurian Candidate Groomed by Communists to Destroy America'!

This is an excerpt with a link to the entire article provided.

'Former FBI Weatherman Task Force supervisor, Max Noel, noted that the FBI utilized a CARL test when it conducted background checks on various suspects. The acronym CARL stands for Character, Associates, Reputation, and Loyalty is used to assess candidates fitness to hold the highest office in the country. On each of these four points of power, Obama fails and fails miserably. Like many FBI law enforcement agents and officials, Noel was alarmed by the fact that someone like Barack Obama could capture the presidency. For some unexplained reason, Obama was never vetted before he became a candidate for the presidency by the FBI. This is an unacceptable result of our national security system and is wholly suggestive of internal plot to allow the installation of a blatantly communist advocate into the highest political position in America.

Today, many people have been in a position to now vet the President after Obama’s first five years in office and observed his “fundamental transformation of America“. This particular series will continue to connect the dots of the secretive and nefarious communist background of Barack Hussein Obama...'

Obama taking a rhetorical field trip to the U.N.!

Update 9/24/2013 10:50 AM: As predicted the toothless rhetoric is flowing freely out of the mouth of Barack Obama, leader of the free world, at the UN General Assembly!

From Politico:

President Barack Obama called Tuesday on the United Nations Security Council to pass a resolution threatening "consequences" if Bashar Assad's regime in Syria does not give up its chemical weapons.

"There must be a strong Security Council resolution to verify that the Assad regime is keeping its commitments," Obama told the United Nations General Assembly. "There must be consequences if they fail to do so."

Continue reading below:

And the obvious question is how Obama, Kerry and the rest of the incompetents on his team will screw it up?

Unfortunately for the citizens of the United States and our allies whenever an issue involves the Obama administration, foreign policy or national security the outcome is obvious and sadly predictable!

One need only look to examples such as the Arab Spring and ascendence of the Muslim Brotherhood, the Benghazi massacre of four Americans and our faltering relationship with Israel to understand that fact only too well.

My guess is that today Obama will use the diplomacy and negotiation card with Iran as the carrot to get the rouge nation to stop developing its nuclear weapons. This much is obvious!

The stick in this 'game', military action, has unfortunately been rendered irrelevant due to the Obama-Syria fiasco and the rest of the toothless rhetoric the President has uttered in his five-plus years in office!

But that will not stop the President from issuing tough words that no one, most critically Iran, will believe has any basis in fact (economic sanctions will be on the table somewhere as well).

Iran, under the guise of a new moderate government will of course accept this overture as a means to continue unfettered nuclear weapons development which is exactly what has been happening in that country for too many years.

You see, what Obama and the rest of the liberals have always failed to grasp is that terrorists and rogue nations will never stop trying to build or buy WMDs, hate the west with a passion the Left cannot seem to grasp and want us wiped off of the face of the earth.

And, perhaps most importantly, these enemies only understand and respond to strength.

Or maybe Obama and his team actually do understand and either don't give a crap or it's all part of some greater master plan which in the case of Obama is actually plausible.

Bernanke's successor will be caught between reality and a hard place!

Which 'lucky' economist will be the winner of the Bernanke Replacement Derby?

The United States financial system is long into a Fed induced economic infusion of dollars that has run into the trillions and had limited if any success.

There has been tepid growth of the economy, below normal creation of jobs and little improvement in the unemployment rate due to anything beyond a sinking labor force participation rate.

That said and in light of last weeks announcement that signaled no immediate end to QE was in sight, was Larry Summers crazy like a fox when he took his name out of the running to replace Ben Bernanke as Federal Reserve Chairman?

In other words whether it's Janet Yellen or Janet Jackson who ultimately is chosen to replace Bernanke, will their appointment be like trying to replace the captain of the Titanic at the exact time the ship is running into an iceberg ripping a whole in the great ships hull that would ultimately send it to the bottom?

In simpler terms, will replacing Bernanke be like the unlucky contestant who is the last one standing in a game of musical chairs when the music finally stops?

Last week when Bernanke's Fed announced that his organization would not be tapering and instead would maintain bond purchases to the tune of $85 billion a month, did this decision actually have to do with the condition of the economy? If so it would be entirely plausible but is there more taking place behind the curtain?

It would be somewhat plausible because despite whatever Obama and his mainstream media pundits tell you about economic improvement in America, those of us outside of Washington and on the front-lines of Main Street know that the good times are really not rolling! They are simply limping along at a low level!

On-the-other-hand, was the Feds decision due to the fact that Obama's fiscal fighters have painted themselves into a monetary corner they cannot get out of without major and devastating implications?

If you have been listening to Chairman Ben in his post-Fed decision announcement news conferences you will likely have come to the same observation as I have that this Fed academician and historian with no practical real-life experience is lost!

Lost as it relates to the steps to take that would extricate the U.S. from this quantitative easing spiral without plunging the economy into some type of even worse spiral.

As the Obama administration has made crystal clear in its five-plus years in power every decision or non-decision can and typically will have serious and potentially long-lasting unintended consequences.

This massive fiscal experiment with global implications is certainly no exception and may actually be the most significant of all!

As you will read below, when the terms Federal Reserve and Weimar Republic are compared in the same breath, danger may be looming on the horizon!

A sampling of thoughts about QE and tapering from around the WWW!

  • '...Today, the Federal Reserve finds itself faced with a scenario that is very similar to what the Weimar Republic was facing nearly 100 years ago. Like the Weimar Republic, the U.S. economy is also struggling and like the Weimar Republic, the U.S. government is absolutely drowning in debt. Unfortunately, the Federal Reserve has decided to adopt the same solution that the Weimar Republic chose. The Federal Reserve is recklessly printing money out of thin air, and in the short-term some positive things have come out of it. But quantitative easing worked for the Weimar Republic for a little while too. At first, more money caused economic activity to increase and unemployment was low. But all of that money printing destroyed faith in German currency and in the German financial system and ultimately Germany experienced an economic meltdown that the world is still talking about today...' (Source)
  • '...They are called derivatives and in the interest rate arena alone there are $441 trillion in bets outstanding around the globe (Read 'Derivatives 101 through the prism of a beer hall!' here). And sharp moves in rates, like the one we have experienced the last month or so, are not likely factored into the models created by the highly paid MIT quants who create the derivatives contracts. The result, if this degree of volatility persists, could be losses on a mammoth scale. This spike in interest rates is one of the many potential unintended consequences that could occur due to the huge amount of money that has been printed by the U.S. government along with the artificially low level of interest rates that has been engineered by the Federal Reserve's Ben Bernanke...' (Source)
  • '...The danger with addictions is they tend to become increasingly compulsive. That might be one moral of this week's events. A few days ago, expectations were sky-high that the Federal Reserve was about to reduce its current $85 billion monthly bond purchases. But then the Fed blinked, partly because it is worried that markets have already over-reacted to the mere thought of a policy shift. Faced with a choice of curbing the addiction or providing more hits of the QE drug, in other words, it chose the latter...' (Source)
  • 'The Fed's failure today to announce some sort of tapering of its QE program, despite the consensus of an overwhelming percentage of economists who expected action, once again reveals the degree to which mainstream analysts have overestimated the strength of our current economy. The Fed understands, as the market seems not to, that the current "recovery" could not survive without continuation of massive monetary stimulus. Mainstream economists have mistaken the symptoms of the Fed's monetary expansion, most notably rising stock and real estate prices, as signs of real and sustainable growth. But the current asset price bubbles have nothing to do with the real economy. To the contrary, they are setting up for a painful correction that will likely be worse than the one we experienced five years ago...' (Source)
