And of course the Obama administration can play these scandalous 'games' because in Washington politics there are no shot clocks or bells that bring an end to a round!
And apparently there are no referees with any real power either!
In fact Washington politics appears to be more like a professional wrestling match where the referee will be 'distracted' by something outside of the ring while one of the wrestlers hits the other one over the head with a chair or tries to gouge out his eyes!
The problem is that while wrestling is fake (or so I have been told) the antics in Washington are anything but and affect our everyday lives in a very real way.
Four Corners Offense: 'The four corners offense is an offensive strategy for stalling in basketball. 4 players stand in the corners of the offensive half-court and the fifth dribbles the ball in the middle. Most of the time the point guard stays in the middle, but the middle player would periodically switch, temporarily, with one of the corner players. It was a strategy that was used in college basketball prior to the institution of the shot clock.' (Source)
Rope-a-Dope: 'The rope-a-dope is performed by a boxer assuming a protected stance (in Ali's classic pose, lying against the ropes, which allows much of the punch's energy to be absorbed by the ropes' elasticity rather than the boxer's body) while allowing his opponent to hit him, providing only enough counter-attack to avoid the referee thinking the boxer is no longer able to continue and thus ending the match via technical knockout. The plan is to cause the opponent to "punch himself out" and make mistakes which the boxer can then exploit in a counter-attack.' (Source)
In sports the two strategies described above are used by a basketball team when there is no shot clock and a boxer during a bout to stall and/or tire out the opponent in an attempt to ultimately win the fight.
They are a legitimate use of the rules of the game that may seem to run contrary to the idea of pure competition but that make a lot of sense if the sole idea is to win.
When employed in the conduct of running a nation, however, these two strategies are most often utilized to head fake the people and distract a complicit media that needs little coaxing in order to be distracted anyway, away from stories or scandals that the leadership would prefer are forgotten or ignored.
Better yet, if the political game is played the right way the politician can actually turn and manipulate the facts through a clever and repetitive use of the bully pulpit to actually score political points against the opposition. An opposition (the Republican party) whose only goal at least in the case of Obama scandals is to out the truth but that is instead stonewalled at every turn.
Obama, the master manipulator!
And so it is that the Obama administration, much to the detriment of the American people who are too ignorant to know and too disengaged to care, has brought the use of the Rope-a-Dope and Four Corners strategies in the running of the country to an art-form!
If only national security and the invasion of our privacy on a massive scale could instead be called the trial of the century pitting race against race, Kim's baby or perhaps even the new Prince of England.
It is only then the people would look up and take notice. But I digress.
Speaking once again of Obama administration diversion tactics I refer back to an article at TPC during the most recent presidential campaign in March 2012.
While my analysis of the Obama use of these techniques was correct, the credit which I gave to the media and the American people in the last sentence has proven to be dishearteningly wrong!
The article is titled 'Obama is no Ali when it comes to rope-a-doping the American people!':
President Obama, his administration, campaign and blindly loyal supporters are all using a boxing technique, the rope-a-dope, made famous by Muhammad Ali!
And due to this I am so very tired. Am I the only one who finds dealing with the left and MSM fatiguing? I remain focused, motivated and resolved to do what I can in my own small way to defeat Barack Obama come November 2012, but exhausted nonetheless.
Exhausted by this so-called strategy of the left to cajole the American people into the boxing equivalent of punching themselves out on some key issues that surround the President.
One can only imagine that they intend to pursue this technique until Americans become vulnerable to what our opponents believe will be their knockout blow in the 2012 election.
Creating this condition of mental fatigue is the strategy that has been chosen, developed and implemented by President Obama and his entourage to deflect political punches in order to tire out political opponents. And it has had some success, there is no doubt about that.
However, unlike the success of the rope-a-dope used by Muhammad Ali when he fought George Foreman in the 1974 Rumble in the Jungle (for boxing fans the classic Round 8 below), this political tactic will work for only so long. Eventually as they say, the truth will out!
Now let's take a look at a list of only some of the most recent and some might say most egregious Obama scandals, some of which involved the death of Americans. Courtesy of White House Dossier:
1. IRS targets Obama’s enemies: The IRS targeted conservative and pro-Israel groups prior to the 2012 election. Questions are being raised about why this occurred, who ordered it, whether there was any White House involvement and whether there was an initial effort to hide who knew about the targeting and when.
2. Benghazi: This is actually three scandals in one:
The failure of administration to protect the Benghazi mission.
The changes made to the talking points in order to suggest the attack was motivated by an anti-Muslim video.
The refusal of the White House to say what President Obama did the night of the attack
3. Watching the AP: The Justice Department performed a massive cull of Associated Press reporters’ phone records as part of a leak investigation.
4. Rosengate: The Justice Department suggested that Fox News reporter James Rosen is a criminal for reporting about classified information and subsequently monitored his phones and emails.
5. Potential Holder perjury I: Attorney General Eric Holder told Congress he had never been associated with “potential prosecution” of a journalist for perjury when in fact he signed the affidavit that termed Rosen a potential criminal.
6. The ATF “Fast and Furious” scheme: Allowed weapons from the U.S. to “walk” across the border into the hands of Mexican drug dealers. The ATF lost track of hundreds of firearms, many of which were used in crimes, including the December 2010 killing of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry.
7. Potential Holder Perjury II: Holder told Congress in May 2011 that he had just recently heard about the Fast and Furious gun walking scheme when there is evidence he may have known much earlier.
Quite a list but it is scary to know that this list is only a partial one. That is the scope and depth of apparent wrongdoing from this White House.
This leads to the conclusion in the form of a question. Will the American people ever get closure on any or all of these real scandals, not phony scandals, that permeate this administration?
Or will Barack Obama with a little help from the media be able to manipulate the country to believe that no scandals exist and that in fact it is the Republican Party that is to blame for distracting the country from whatever talking points the President wants to focus on.
Today that incessant rhetoric includes his love for the middle class and the benefits of Obamacarewith both of those points having no real merit.
In my humble estimation the President could care less about the middle class based both on his lack of attention to those things that could actually create jobs (i.e. Keystone Pipeline) or improve the economy and the disaster that is and will be Obamacare.
Stay focused America and by all means do not ignore the man who is hiding behind the curtain. That man is of course not the Wizard but is Barack Obama!
