CPAC 2013 has been cancelled!

'Dear Member of the Media/Blogosphere: Thank you for registering to cover CPAC 2013. We have received your application and are pleased to confirm your CPAC 2013 Media Credentials.'

Therefore it is with much regret that this morning I cancelled my trip to CPAC 2013!

Nobody was looking forward to attending CPAC 2013 more than I was. It is an event that I look forward to each year because it brings me into direct contact with people and groups who care about the future of this country as much as I do.

The speakers and the discussions cover the critical issues that face not only the United States but the world as well.

Opinions are given and potential avenues for a solution are bandied about.

This year as a matter of fact I was to attend Blog Bash, an invitation only get-together on CPAC's first night at which the 'National Bloggers Club is hosting the largest gathering of center-right bloggers of the year at CPAC.'

It would have been a great opportunity for this 'little fish' in the blogosphere to meet and converse with some of the whales.

In fact, the line-up of political speakers at this years 3-day CPAC is going to be second-to-none...almost!

Unfortunately, several actions and exclusions by CPAC heading into this years event led me to believe that my time and efforts might be better utilized at my homebase.

As an example consider this article from a friend and fellow member of the Watcher's Council, Joshuapundit, titled, 'How CPAC Has Been Completely Corrupted By Islamists!' It begins with:

"Scare headline? Overstated? Nope.

I was wondering why the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) had banned Pamela Geller, AFDI and conservative gay groups like GOProud from hosting events or even setting up booths this year. Now, I have an answer..."

I have known Pamela Geller for some years.

I attended the premier of her movie about the mosque planned for downtown Manhattan mere steps away from Ground Zero produced by both she and Robert Spencer.

And I know both of them to be tireless attackers of the influx of the Sharia Law movement into the United States.

Their exclusion and snub posed a problem for me in the context of CPAC being an inclusionary and open forum for the discussion of ideas.

"Islam analyst and author Robert Spencer was scheduled to be honored at the upcoming Conservative Political Action Conference, better known as CPAC, for his widely read blog JihadWatch.org, but he won’t be in attendance, he says, because of a speech restriction sponsors of the award placed on him." (Source)

The lack of an invitation for New Jersey Governor Chris Christie was another mitigating factor in my decision to stay home although truth-be-told if invited, he most likely would not have attended anyway.

Here's the thing.

The Obama-led Democrat Party has divined a formula by which they throw freebies to the American people while at the same time casting the Republican Party as the evil villain that doesn't care about anything besides big business.

The Democrats care little about national security and obviously not at all about the long-term fiscal viability of the country.

To date this plan has worked fairly well for them and heading into the mid-term elections they are going to be pedal-to-the-metal keeping this storyline going.

Fortunately for the country, the teflon coating of Obama and the Democrats seems to be developing some cracks with even the MSM starting to ask questions.

The GOP, Tea Party, RINO's, conservatives and any other name you want to pin on non-left wing liberals need to band together to win.

There cannot be infighting and the eating of each others young that results in some staying home on election day due to the chosen candidate not being perfect.

A look to the White House will tell you that whatever imperfections our candidates may have pales in comparison to this years winner who is the absolute antithesis of perfect.

We either play as a team by putting aside ego and petty differences, or else we watch the Democrats finish the job that Barack Obama has started!

That of creating a socialist land with personal liberties going down the tubes and where the United States is viewed as being weak and impotent by its enemies.

The choice is ours, and wouldn't CPAC have been a great place to start!
