|Barack or Jimmy or is it all the same?|
Fact: A U.S. Embassy and its grounds are considered sovereign territory of the United States!
And if our sovereign territory, in this case located in Libya and in Egypt, is invaded by person or persons who at some point are shown to have any affiliation to the government of the country where said Embassy is domiciled, does this constitute an act of war?
The answer to that question is of course yes but to my knowledge neither the Libyan or Egyptian governments can be directly tied to the actions of September 11th. It was during these attacks on our Embassy grounds that the U.S. Ambassador to Libya and three associates were murdered.
When and if such a government connection can be made I would assume that all bets would be off and that the response against said governments would be swift and severe.
The caveat of course against making such an assumption under Obama administration rule would be that this President and his staff, including Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, would most likely prefer a policy of diplomatic engagement, negotiation and apology!
This strategy would be even more likely if having to be in Washington prosecuting a war could in any way interfere with campaigning for the November election.
Nowhere was this potential for Presidential priorities made more clear than when the President jetted off to Las Vegas for a fundraiser while the situation in the Middle East was still developing.
His representatives will be quick to tell you that Air Force One is like a flying Oval Office but for a country under attack Mr. President and Commander-in-Chief, that just isn't good enough!
