It doesn't matter if you are a betting man or not! If a solar megastorm were to occur it would take all of us out (metaphorically speaking of course)!
The last storm of a magnitude comparable to the one predicted over the next few years was 150 years ago and it went by the name the Carrington Event.
Occurring at a time when the world was not reliant on electronics in order to survive, it would have had little to none of the impact that this one would were it to hit!
The damage that a storm like this could have in the U.S. alone is estimated to be in the $1 to $2 trillion range with a 10-year timeframe for recovery. It could disrupt or completely knock out the power grid, communications satellites and GPS, global banking and all of the collateral damage that would be associated with these events.
