What can you say about a President who will do or say anything to achieve his one and only true goal?
"Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men." - Lord Acton
"Unlimited power is apt to corrupt the minds of those who possess it" - William Pitt
It should also prevent presidents from making unilateral proclamations such as those made in societies run by dictators or by monarchs who have assumed the unlimited power to do so.
Following is an interpretation of Shakespeare's Macbeth which describes how the lust for power and the willingness to do whatever it takes to achieve that power has consequences for all of the subjects.
In the case of Barack Obama, it is the American people who face those consequences!
"... Despite being law-abiding citizens at one point in time, many often commit immoral acts in order to gain power. In doing so, they prove that their quest for power has corrupted them. Furthermore, the acts committed as a result of this corruption often leads to many consequences. In the play Macbeth, prime examples of the compromise of good moral values leading to consequences often relate to events revolving around the title character, Macbeth. When the story begins, Macbeth truly is a "peerless kinsmen" to the king (Shakespeare 1.4.66); however, as the story progresses others refer to him in this way only because they are oblivious to his true desires….
...It is widely accepted that corrupted behaviour often leads the perpetrator of this behaviour to ruins; regrettably, people often fail to realize the consequences this behaviour has on the society in which they live..." (Source)
Fast-forward to the 2012 presidential election!
For those who voted for Barack Obama in the first go-round or for those voters who will be participating in the process in 2012 for the first time, it is critical to look beyond the headlines and the propaganda that is being promoted by a complicit media.
Voters need to look at the complete picture of Barack Obama including prior to his ascendency to the White House and then at exactly what he has done since he has been there.
Don't be fooled by claims of foreign policy or national security successes. And certainly one need only to look at their current economic situation to not be fooled by any claims of domestic successes.
Look at some of those claimed "successes" and the consequences that have or will develop from them.
President Obama was a huge advocate of the "Arab Spring" in Egypt that is about to result in the installation of the Muslim Brotherhood into power.
Our overtures to negotiate "peace" with the Taliban, a terrorist organization whose only goal is the destruction of the west.
The playing of patty-cake with Iran and its nuclear program to the extent that it is now Iran who is dictating to the U.S. in the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz. That is a prime example of what this administration has done with our global standing.
Domestically we have the President's overwhelming support for the rogue movement Occupy Wall Street that to date has resulted in close to 6,000 arrests including for violent crime. This while demeaning the Tea Party that is a peaceful movement with an actual agenda.
As painful as I know that it is, take the time to actually listen to this President as he speaks about issues near and dear to our hearts.
Get beneath the surface and understand that the majority of whatever is being proposed or whatever actions are being taken are being done with one goal and with one motive which is to ascend to a second-term in the White House.
Understand that when he tries to place the blame for failures on the Republican Party or the Bush administration that it is nothing but a smoke screen.
Because whether the President of the United States or the CEO of a corporation, the buck stops at their desk for successes and most certainly for failures!
Ask yourself this cliched question: Are you better off now than you were before Barack Obama took office and if not do you really think that giving him a second-term in office will make the United States stronger?
And finally, regardless of how you were brought up, the political party your parents follow or the way other people in your town vote, look at the facts and the issues, step outside your political box and support the candidate who at the end of the day you believe will be the best for the country!
Not for themselves!
