Iranian nukes through political humor cannot soften the message! (Cartoon)

A cartoon on Iranian nukes can't soften the facts that the world seems to want to ignore!

"Kicking the can down the road".

This phrase has been used over and over again to describe financial crises around the world. The Greek debt crisis and the U.S. debt limit debate are two that immediately come to mind.
What it means is that those in power, in an attempt to remain in power, will do whatever it takes to go around an issue instead of meeting it head on.

In other words they will attempt to transfer the ownership of that problem to the people who come into power after them.

This method of leadership is all well and good if the problems are somewhat benign, but not when they reach the level of the two mentioned above.

Beyond those two situations, most certainly in the case of Iran's tireless drive to build or obtain in some other way a nuclear weapons capability.

Iranian nukes

Back on June 18 in an article titled "Peace talks with the Taliban? Why not hold them at a beach resort on Mars?" I wrote the following concerning the Obama administration method for dealing with Iran:

"Engage Iran in negotiations to stop its nuclear weapons program. Slap sanctions on that country so that it can continue down the nuclear path while we look on."

This isn't the first that I have written on this topic. Going through my article archives I could find at least 18 articles that touch on this extremely critical situation.

Unfortunately, as in many critical situations that requires true leadership and courage, our politicians will typically take the easy and cowardly path of "kicking the can down the road."

In the case of financial crises or nuclear weapons acquisition by terrorists, the current global style of leadership by omission rather than by commission could have deadly consequences!
