Two men were arrested in New York on Wednesday and will be charged with conspiracy to commit terrorism and some hate crime offenses.
The two men, one Algerian and one from Morocco were attempting to purchase weapons, ammunition and grenades. The planned targets were to be synagogues around New York City and possibly the Empire State Building as well.
While the two men are Muslim, profess to wanting to kill Jews and were planning attacks to kill innocent Americans at the New York City landmark, law enforcement seems loath to lump them into some larger picture of global terrorism and the war on terror.
They like to call them lone wolves as if to say they are merely two disgruntled men off to commit murder. No different than any other of your basic run of the mill sociopaths out to commit murder.
I personally think, however, that when you consider the conventional wisdom that terror cells are sitting in neutral all over the world waiting to be given the signal to strike, when you consider that global jihad against Jews and all of western civilization is a stated goal and that the profile of those caught attempting to perpetrate terrorist acts or of those who have succeeded there seem to be a very consistently the same.
In the United States, however, to create a security plan based on that common thread would be considered profiling and a violation of their civil rights. If such a plan were to be implemented, the ACLU, many of whose members would be targets themselves as Jews, would be out front crying foul.
Political correctness is a great ideal to have, but it is not the way that a country can prosecute its primary job of protecting its citizens!
