The pain at the gas pump continues to grow strongerIt will come as no surprise to any of us that the cost and the financial pain of filling up our cars and trucks at the gas pump has grown to critical levels. This in the context of crisis including both a struggling economy and the ability for family's to make their budget ends meet on a week to week basis.
In New York City a price per gallon in the mid-$4.00 range translates into $70 or so to fill-up.
Washington hot air
President Obama, recognizing the need to get out and address the federal budget deficit, will present his plan to Congress this afternoon. With the positive response that the Rep. Paul Ryan proposal for spending cuts has received and the $1.4 trillion dollar federal budget deficit for this year, it has become politically expedient for President Obama to go public attempting to present himself in a leadership role.
How big is one trillion?
To put this number into perspective, consider that 1 trillion seconds equals 31,546 years.
