The difference is that while the burning of a Bible or the desecration of a Torah would be reviled and the perpetrators hopefully brought to justice and punished, it would most likely not lead to wholesale violence and the murder of innocent people.
This video from Aljazeera seems to be attempting to lay the blame for what were supposedly to be non-violent protests at the feet of those injured or killed. That explanation is dubious at best as violence and calls for street justice to those who say or do anything considered anti-Muslim has been the rule in the past and not the exception.
