Less free than last year but more free than the average countryHmmm. Better than average but on the decline. Is that the American way? Is just better than average an acceptable result for the United States? That's certainly not my American way but it may absolutely be the way of our current occupant of the White House.
It seems to me that our President Obama is a true believer in the concept of mediocrity and "all for one and one for all".
Where everyone works for the good of everyone else and you have what you need but no more. Wait a second, isn't that the definition of socialism? That can't be the agenda of President Obama, can it?
Putting aside the President's pithy rhetoric, it is difficult to know for sure what this President is really thinking about the issues that matter most to the American people. The 2011 Index of Economic Freedom, compiled by The Heritage Foundation and The Wall Street Journal, takes an objective look and scores the argument.
The United States, as the Index result of 77.8 indicates, is better than average but on the decline.
As a point of reference Hong Kong (an "administrative region" of communist China) is ironically the most economically free with a Freedom Score of 89.7 while the United States places ninth with Freedom Score of 77.8. North Korea checks-in with a Freedom Score of 1.0 while Japan places twentieth at 72.8.
