How Is The Debate Over Cordoba House Playing Around The World?

It may very well be that Imam Rauf is well prepared to let this debate play itself out for as long as possible, and at the end make a grandiose show out of agreeing to move the Cordoba House to a location that is somewhat less incendiary.

In the meantime, the pictures of Americans protesting the construction is pure fodder for those outlets around the world who would like to turn this debate into one of the United States shunning the Muslim faith, rather than that of a protest over a poorly chosen location.

Joint Forces Command In Virginia To Be Eliminated

Defense Secretary Gates has made the decision to eliminated The Joint Forces Command (JFCOM) in Norfolk, Virginia, based on the analysis that the jobs performed there could be handled more efficiently within some other part of the Pentagon. While this will potentially cost thousands of jobs, if this closure does not in any way compromise our national security then any reduction of government spending is a good thing.

In addition to this and future cutting of unnecessary military bureaucracy, actual weapons systems deemed no longer useful will also be cut.

Given the bloating of government spending coupled with a recession, the likes of which has not seen for decades, any government cost cutting that does not compromise our homeland security is critical.

Now that we have shown our religious tolerance and upheld the virtues of the American ideal, what is next in the process for the building of Cordoba House mere steps away from the remnants of the World Trade Center, site of the worst terrorist attack in U.S. history?

Is anyone curious where the funding for the building is going to come from? Will it be coming from friend or foe of the United States? Or does that matter to the politicians...
