Danger in the sky: Lasers pointed into plane cockpits at Newark Airport

Lasers pointed at airplanes becoming a more frequent problem

There are many risks to air travel as the controversy over body scanners, pat downs and bombs found in cargo show. But a lesser known issue concerns lasers pointed into airplane cockpits during landing that have the potential to blind a pilot and cause a plane to crash.

Tonight at Newark Liberty International Airport the twelfth incident this week occurred as pilots reported a green laser pointed at them during their final approach.

Lasers are for science, medicine and Austin Powers.
