To Pledge or not to Pledge, is that really a question?

The Pledge Of Allegiance, God Bless America And/Or Our National Anthem All Have An Honored Place Before Organized Events

Whether a sporting event, local Chamber of Commerce meeting, start of a school day or the beginning of a social club get together such as a Lions Club meeting, recognition is given to the great country that we live in.

To say that we won't, don't have the time or that it is not in an agenda is to say that we do not honor and appreciate the United States. Given that fact, where would be a more appropriate place for such recognition than prior to a debate between political candidates running for elected office?

This was apparently not the case however, prior to a debate for the House seat in the Illinois 8th Congressional District. The moderator, Kathy Tate-Bradish from the League of Women Voters, said that the Pledge of Allegiance was not part of the program and would therefore not be recited.

It was at this point that the audience, which included high school students, took it upon themselves to make sure that the Pledge was indeed said. In predictable fashion, the spontaneous reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance was turned into a Republican plot to intimidate by the Director of the League of Women Voters as, reported in The Daily Herald.

This is the video of the Pledge in question, and below it is a video of the follow-up questioning of the moderator concerning her decision to exclude the Pledge (from Founding Bloggers). The commentary from all sides and the backlash can be read in the article at the Gateway Pundit.
