It Has Nothing To Do With His Role In Almost Destroying The World Financial System
In a time when nothing is ever anyones fault and there is always some other force to blame, Barney Frank has come up with the reason as to why, in a District where margins of victory for the Democrat can be as high as 40 percentage points, he is in an actual race with Republican challenger Sean Bielat. Why he needs to bring Bill Clinton in to campaign for him.
It couldn't have anything to do with the Representative being complicit in the near collapse of the U.S. and world economies could it?
Nah! It is because of the right-wing radio talk show hosts. Of course.
“I’ve had Hannity, Limbaugh, Beck basically say things about me that weren’t true and if people say things that aren’t true over time and you don’t respond, then it has an impact, so I’m responding.”

This from DBKP author John Hayward:
"...My suggestion to the Senator was demanding the resignation of Representative Barney Frank and Senator Chris Dodd as a precondition for getting the bailouts through Congress.
Of course, there was no chance Frank or Dodd would agree to this, but demanding their resignations would have been a minimal gesture of responsibility to the public treasury. They were the chief profiteers and enablers of Fannie Mae. They lied to protect it from oversight. They were prime movers behind the Clinton-era legislation that created the subprime crisis, forcing huge amounts of mortgage money to be loaned to politically favored borrowers who could not repay it.
If the Republicans had demanded the resignation of the Fannie Mae crooks as a precondition to spending any public money on bank bailouts, they would have instantly transformed the Democrats into the “obstructionists,” and compelled the media to discuss Frank and Dodd… names that should be absolutely infamous to every American. (Take a look at this list of the top recipients of Fannie Mae political cash, and you’ll see familiar names from both parties. Guess who joins Dodd in the six-figure club!)
No such demands were made. Chris Dodd is slipping into a lavish retirement, with a black cape of scandal and corruption flowing behind him. Barney Frank became more powerful than ever, and still occupies his House seat, although Sean Bielat is doing his level best to change that. It shouldn’t take voluntary retirement, or long-shot political miracles, to clean such people out of Congress… but it does, and that is a very good reason not to trust the government..."
