The World Dithers as Tehran Marches On
Deadlines come and go, threats are made and not followed through on and the nuclear machinery in Iran continues to churn with nothing, or no one, seemingly willing to stop it. Russia and China (discussed later) put up a false front of desiring to stop Iran's nuclear ambitions, while the United States led by Barack Obama has unfortunately become a paper tiger. While once feared to have bite behind our bark, the words of the current administration ring hollow.
No lacking in the supply of strong sounding rhetoric with no backbone unfortunately behind it. If you don't believe me, ask the rest of the world who is more than aware of this situation of weak leadership at the helm of what is supposed to be the worlds only superpower.
Today in New York there will be talks held to discuss the implementation of new sanctions against Iran. These new sanctions would be neatly piled on top of the current United Nations sanctions that the Iranian government is currently thumbing its nose at. As stated before, the exercise of imposing sanctions is merely a method of buying time by the worlds politicians. Unfortunately, these delays allow Iran to continue in it's nuclear development efforts.
The countries that will be joining the United States will be Russia, Britain, France Germany and China. All will be sending their Foreign Ministry Political Directors to the meeting save for one, China. China will instead be sending a low level diplomat who will have no decision-making power, which in effect will render these discussions useless as China is certainly a major player in this Iranian standoff.
What is China's motive? Most likely it would be that they do not have any interest in imposing any new sanctions on Iran. What gives them additional confidence in this action would probably be the fact that they do not fear any credible punitive response from the United States.

They are not so recent. It has been going on for a long time as I saw first hand when I was in China last summer. It is wrong, but not surprising.
